Runaway... again

I’ve written many times about runaway animals. Goats, rabbits, Mitzy as well as a runaway bull once. This incident probably completes the list of all runaway animals possible.

The other day during the evening milk, I had just finished giving the young calves their milk and turned to walk towards the milk room to wash the dirty towels. To my surprise, I find a cow standing at the doorway of the barn, with its head in the wagon of cow feed. For a split second, I stood there stunned. Then I looked around and see an empty stall.

I had missed buckling her in. *OPPS* Grave error.

It was lucky that she had gotten out, if not I’d never have known that she was unbuckled. Imagine what could have happened if she’d spend the night in the cow house unbuckled!
