Physical work
The tourist season is almost coming to a close. Things have been pretty slow at the guest houses/ camping site. Which means much much less cleaning and making beds. But as usual on a farm, there’s always something to do.
So the past couple of weeks I’ve been working on the more physical stuff. Started work on painting the cabin a while ago. Red’s a pretty popular colour for buildings here. The cow house’s red, the garage’s red, the cabin’s red too. It’s kinda fun painting. Get to get high from all the inhalation of paint as well as painting spiders on the wall red too. Coz of the rain, it took me 4 afternoons over a span of two weeks to get it almost done. All I’m left with is the railings of the verandah. Saved the worst for last, coz painting railings is just irritating. It’s slow and delicate work having to paint not just round the corners but to ensure that paint doesn’t get on the verandah floor. A while back when I painted the other verandah of the cabin, I accidently dropped the container of paint on the verandah and it ended up looking like a CSI crime scene despite my efforts of cleaning it with white spirit. Lucky the reamining verandah isn't facing the road, so i guess i could take my time painting it, coz no one else would see it.
Yesterday I just finished cleaning the cow house. Coz of all the cow poop and dirt on the walls, cleaning it required the pressure hose. So all I had to do was stand there and spray away. Sometimes i get carried away and spray endlessly on the same spot. One time I was spraying at some spot i thought was cow poop but the spot just kept getting bigger. Then i realised i was actually spraying the paint off and exposing the wall underneath... opps... Some heavy duty pressure hose it is man.
Standing there spraying sounds pretty easy. But with a cow hanging around, things can get pretty tricky. The blind cow is the only cow which is kept indoors, coz she gets bullied when she hangs out with the others outside. So she’s locked indoors all day. I don’t think she likes the pressure hose that much, coz I had to clean the ceilings first, this meant that she’d confirm get wet. And so she kept kicking and moo-ing away. And because she was drenched, as mentioned, a soggy cow ain’t smell good. Things got better when I proceeded to do the walls coz I worked around her and all she got was some rebound sprays off the wall. So this time she was more quiet. The inside of the cow house is now spanking new and so clean you can practically eat off it. But I guess the cows can’t tell the difference, since they are gonna dirty it in no time.

Before
After
(can't really see the difference clearly, but check out the base of the wall... uh-huh.. i am good righhttttttttttt?!)
It took me 3 afternoons to clean the whole cow house. 1 for the ceiling and 2 for the walls. Inge was so impressed with the speed and efficiency of my work. He says I’m a much better worker than Filip, whom he paid more than double. Unni says I’m the best thing that happened to her somemore (Trond and bcc ended up having a debate on this actually. Couldn’t decide if she said I was the best thing that happened to the farm or to her this summer… I think they JEALOUS only loh!!)
Anyhow, I was telling Bcc that when I look good, she looks good too! More brownie points!!

I think you should think of ways to use that hose... creatively.
