Hoven
Hoven is the mountain located just behind the farm. It’s only 368m high. Well it’s not really a mountain mountain like Mount Everest. But it’s not exactly a hill like Bkt Timah hill, so I’d call it a mountain.
Many mountains come along with their other mountain friends, but Hoven is special coz it stands alone. Just one peak by itself. It’s pointy asymmetrical summit is also distinct and easily recognizable.
Since I’ve stopped work at the farm, I’ve been going there quite a lot coz of the berry picking. That place is berryland I tell ya, so far all the berries we’ve picked (well aside from rips) have come from the base as well as slopes of Hoven. Of course it’s coz no one else goes up there to pick but us. Once a woman tourist came by and said she wanted to go blueberry picking and asked where she should go. Unni hesitated and pointed her in the general direction of the far left mountain and just said “over there, over there…”. Of course there are berries there, but we all know that the blueberry gold mine is by the ******* rock just behind the ******. Whahahaha.
The top of Hoven gives a perfect bird’s eye view of the island and the surrounding area. Even just sitting on the slope of Hoven, offers a nice view of the farm and Hov beach at the back with the endless sea meeting the sky in the background.

It’s nice to just sit on the slopes of Hoven, just to see the surrounding scenery or just to sit. Coz it’s a temperate place, there are no creepy crawlies, especially this time of the year. Any creepy crawly would have frozen to death anyway. So it’s pretty safe to sit wherever. It’s dead quiet up there and all you hear is the sound of the waves coming from the beach. The other day when berry picking, I sat there for a whole hour, just staring at the view. Since coming here I’ve not really gotten a chance to go be alone someplace. Somehow I’ve forgotten the feeling of just being by myself. It’s like taking long bus rides, getting some ‘ME’ time to just sit and think about things. Or just sitting.
So far I’ve only been to the top of Hoven once. It’s an uphill walk all the way, test on endurance only loh. Depending on your fitness level, summit times can range from half and hour to how ever long you need. Last time it took me about 40 minutes to get to the top.
Now it’d probably take more an hour at least.
