Bleh bleh bleh
Problem was that it was raining. Thing about Autumn rain here is that it’s not like a tropical thunderstorm with pours heavily for like an hour then it stops. Autumn rain here lasts the whole day, comes in drips and drabs and has the whole sky covered in clouds.
But since I was going back soon. Time was of the essence. So the best I could do was to don on the wet weather gear and head straight out while the rain was still light. Wet weather gear comprises mainly of a whole lot of Gore-tex. Hat with covers on the ears to keep em warm and toasty, jacket, waterproof pants, boots and gloves.
The church is about 7km away. Not that far if you take a bike. If you wanted to run, it’d be possible to reach there well under an hour. Cheeling could probably do it in 35mins I bet. But when you do it with Unni’s bike. It takes a whole 45 minutes.
That’s the time it takes to watch 1 episode of Grey’s Anatomy without the commercials. Couple that with the rain, it’s just miserable. Don’t ask me what’s wrong with the bike coz I have no idea. I’ve tried all combinations of the gears, and everytime it just leaves me feeling as though I’m biking a hell lot and I’ve just moved like a few metres.
Bleh.
Along the way, there were homes with the Norwegian flag up. It’s common that families put up the flag on occasions such as birthdays, funerals blah blah.
Half way, I realize I commited the same dumb mistake I made when I was washing the cow house. When going to a wet place, always leave the pants outside the boot, not tuck the pants in the boot, coz the water can just run down the pants and straight into my warm and toasty boots. Now even having my super socks on was not going to save me… coz they were damp!!
Double Bleh.
45mins later I reach the church, cold, wet and miserable and treat myself to a Ballerina cookie I brought along.
The rain was getting heavier and I ended up staying there 15 short minutes only.
I wasn't going to make the trip wasted, so i stopped by the golf course to take a walk. Good thing about the rain is that not a single soul is out playing golf, so i had the whole place to myself.
The journey back was equally long, tiring, cold and miserable. After all that biking, i've officially got thunder thighs man!
Triple bleh.
