Virgin Chiong-ster
The dinner was at a town hall. Dagfinn had booked it so in advance that some couple who were holding their wedding had to suck it up and hold their wedding dinner elsewhere, probably a much smaller area. Ha!... We were seated a long tables, alternating between males and females. Don’t ask me why, but for social events like these, it’s just done this way. It first started out with Dargfinn introducing every single guest to everyone, all 60 of them, with a small intro of their lives as well... People usually have difficulties with my name, as with me having problems catching theirs. The first time Dagfinn heard my name he said ‘ah? Moonshine?’ As in the liquor here with 47% alcohol in it. Pl was so tickled by it she said good what, coz it means I’m intoxicating. *….*
We had whale sashimi as the starter
Followed by Bacalao or pizza as the main course. And finally 5 yummy cakes to choose from!
Bacalao and pizza
In between meals, the guests took turns making speeches, kinda like a tribute to Dagfinn. This as opposed to in Singapore where people gather at a restaurant for dinner eat and just go. It’s nice in way that it’s more personalised, having your close friends and family make speeches, recounting personal stories and incidents, as well as performances too. You can imagine what it would have been like for pl and i who didn't understand a word of Norwegian.
2348954375 speeches and 4 hours later the dinner was over, the music began and it was time to partee! But it was more of the oldies kinda music for the uncles and aunties to dance hand in hand, Spanish music was on too for salsa dancing too. And the most bizarre song ever… Hakuna Matata from the Lion King! Pl and I were like ???!!!!!.
We soon joined the small crowd on the dance floor when they started to play 80s madonna music. Pl was craving for her R&B music and asked to be allowed to go choose 1 song.
She put on Nelly.
Grave mistake.
Thereafter she was made DJ of the night. Each time she put on a new song, I asked her, ‘ey you decided what song you going to put on next?’. It’s like trying to hold a conversation with a stranger, always gotta think ahead of what to say next... Then she’d hurry back stage to search for the next song. They must have liked her selection, coz when there was a break in the songs, they were threatening to ‘hang the DJ’. Pl was saying now she knows how tough yc’s job gotta be. Stresss siaaaaa…
After much partying and alcohol, it finally ended at around 3.30am. Outside, it was getting foggy. And as usual, the scenery was just woooohoooooo!!!

Today, I had meeswa with fishball and pork trinklets and took the MRT. Visited the library. Went to cold storage and took the MRT back again. God save me.
Er who is this mysterious person on top? Mee swa spam?
That was me just now (2.02AM) and not spam commenting on spam. Your description reminded me of the chapter in Roald Dahl's "Boy" when he was talking about his childhood in Christiania (old name of Oslo) where they would have these huge fish dinners (with the men and women seated alternately too) and do the "skaal" ritual throughout, and as a result end up completely drunk after that. Did you do it too??
By the way I think it is hilarious that two S'porean girls are introducing the world of hip-hop (Nelly haha) to the Norweigan north.
